I LIVE IN THE 21st CENTURY
By Alexander Malina
I live in the 21st century
I live in the era of death
I live in dissent
I live quietly
I quietly pray to myself
I live and I have many enemies
I look in the mirror
I laugh
I’d like to experience happiness
rather I
experience
death
I live in the 21st century
like an ape
I stare at the moon
I often see mushrooms enveloping
and raping
changing my world
at night
when I sleep
I breathe heavily
at day
half-dead
when I work
I live in the 21st century
where nothing is certain for sure
I live
and I look
like a circus freak
I speak
very rudely
I spit
I scream
and I beat
my head
aimlessly
I restlessly write
and I read
I’m battling
life
on the battle front
I’m killing
and dying
within
I stare at the 21st century
astonished
it stares back at me . . .
